MUSCAT: Four Asian nationals have been arrested on charges of vandalism and attempted theft after allegedly trying to break into a gold jewellery shop in the Wilayat of Muttrah, the Royal Oman Police (ROP) said.

According to the ROP, the arrests followed extensive search and investigation operations carried out by the Muscat Governorate Police Command in cooperation with the North Al Batinah and Dhofar Police Commands.

The suspects allegedly demolished part of a wall to gain access to the shop in an attempt to steal gold jewellery. However, the attempted burglary was foiled before any theft could be carried out.

The Royal Oman Police said the four suspects have been taken into custody, and the necessary legal procedures are being completed against them in accordance with the law.

The ROP reiterated its commitment to safeguarding lives and property and affirmed that security agencies will continue to pursue those involved in criminal activities and bring them to justice.
